My Muse

Foam Core Light Box Made

I finished alot of projects yesterday,(only left the house to get a bottle of wine!) One of the projects was to make this foam core light box. It's not much bigger than the tissue paper box but it is sturdier and brighter. Excited to play around with it.

Happy First Day of Spring!

Phew! The planting is done! Just potted flower seeds last night. The vegetables and herbs were planted last Sunday and I already have some sprouts!

My Speedy Plant Growing Center

After making 162 paper pots, I put 2 plant fluorescent lights under my plant table( I tried using velcro but that didn't last so I pulled twine through the table planks and tied it to a chopping stick above- Genius!) I filled the pots with 15 different vegetables, herbs, and flowers and then covered with a plastic film poked with holes until plants sprout. They need 12 hours of light. I put them under the table at night and then put them in the front window during the days: they get approximately 20 hours of light. I make sure they get enough water- paper pot is damp but not soaked. Let's Grow!

Mother Nature waits for No One

I am trying to figure out what I am doing for the garden this year- lots of ideas (garden boxes on balcony perhaps?) Must plant seeds indoors now and figure that out later. I'd rather watch Project Runway and take a nap.

Give me 500- Until it hurts!

This is where my boyfriend will be for the week long celebration of St. Patrick's Day- serving you delicious pints at The Irish Rover. It is my job to wake him up, dust him off, get him fed, and back out to the angry mob. Please Hammer- don't hurt him.

Subtle Marketing

I am not a fan of in-your-face advertising- people that have to plaster their business name on everything. The only person that likes that is the owner of the business. I put a couple of business cards in back of each case- 1 for you and 1 to pass on. I just went to a concert and didn't want to bring my wallet so I stuck my ID and credit card in the back of the case- very compact! I think these travel tissue cases give you a peek at what my organizing services can offer you: visually pleasing, streamlined, functional, and here to help in your time of need. A business opportunity every time someone sneezes- bring on the allergy/flu seasons!

Make a Travel Tissue Case

These are so easy to make with things you probably already have in your home office. Supplies needed: A piece of computer paper, a transparent file sheet, decorative paper, scissors, tissues, and clear tape. 1. Cut file sheet into two cleans pieces 2. Fold paper into thirds

3. Fold end pieces inward 4. Fold the file sheet over the paper form- make the creases tight 5.Fold one end to the back

6. I pulled out the computer paper to cut so the back flap would be transparent. Better viewing of my business card- this step is not necessary. 7. Insert decorative paper strips 8. Tape the sides and the back to make a pocket 9. Fill with tissues- I put 5 in and refill as needed 10. Done! No more old-lady-crumpled-up-kleenex-in-your-pockets for you!

cheap in the form of a lightbox

I made a light box for my photo taking needs. This is super cheap- cardboard box, tissue paper, and packing tape. I've already put my finger through the tissue paper on all sides. I want to make a box out of foam core at some point. This is a photo of travel tissue cases I made out of a file sheet, a piece of computer paper, and some decorative paper. Super easy to make and I put my business card on the back side to do some marketing. I will show you how to make soon!

I hate to see you go but love to watch you leave

I sold my chaise lounge yesterday on craigslist. It was so big- it was a commitment owning it. So happy it is gone. Make room for art room downstairs to be closer to the computer. Technology rules my world.

Be Good

Reusing your lunch items saves money and is good for the planet. Love the Ziploc baggie but it is hard for me to use it for a snack and then toss it. I just rinse and hang and reuse until they start to look bad. Why use plastic silverware? I grabbed a bunch of mismatched utencils from the thrift store so I don't have to worry about losing my good set- also comes in handy if you throw a party. Everyone uses recycled bags now a days- at least everyone I know. Easy to toss in your purse- buy the pretty ones. Check out delight.com for some great planet-friendly sets.

AM Routine: 5:00-5:30 Brew Coffee, Make Lunch, Check Weather

When I get up in the morning I go down to the kitchen, turn on the TV to check the weather. That will determine if I am going to ride my bike or walk to work. Then I turn on the already-set-up-to-brew-in-the-am espresso maker- I like to fill it up after I make one so it is always ready. Then I make my lunch- usually a salad, fruit, and yogart. I used to spend $40 on starbuck's coffee and $30 on lunches during the 5 day work week. Now I spend $40 for a week on groceries. That's $6 a day for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and lattes for 7 days. It is tight but doable. Stock up on espresso beans when they are on sale and freeze what you can for a rainy day.
