Getting Ready
For the next week or so I will be getting the bike ready for the cold- new tires and a tarp cover for the trailer. It is hard to do when the weather has been in the 90's. Global Warming is so unpredictable.

The New Normal
Ways I save money by changing my habits:
1. Cook at home more and always pack a lunch for work
2. Get books from the library instead of buying
3. Shop at thrift stores to get my clothing fix
4. No more cabs- get off my butt and ride my bike or take the bus
5. Watch movies on Netflix instead of theater
6. Do-it-yourself grooming, no more pedicures at the salon
7. Get boyfriend to pay for concerts and cocktails
8. Appreciate what you have

Hoard
I just got a bunch of books from the library on hoarding. There are 3 million hoarders out there and I thought I could find the quick fix to the problem- I just don't have the patience or the compassion for these people. I like to clean up messes but don't want to argue about every item. I would lose it after 40 minutes.

Happy 2 Years!
Today is the 2 year anniversary of me not smoking- not even a puff! Tomorrow is the 2 year anniversary of the worst bike wreck I ever had but I won't be celebrating that.

JOHN LAGATTA
I took 90% of the art off of my walls because I am bored with it. Would love to have this on a 3 foot canvas.

ReBoot
I have had these cream boots for a couple of years and never wore them because the cream canvas got dirty and I put them in the wash and the leather bled making them look even dirtier. So I decided to paint them- I was going to dye them but still wanted some cream elements shown.
After I painted them, I sprayed with weatherproof spray. I don't think I will be wearing them on slushy days but I am super pleased on how they turned out. The other color option I wanted was army green which would have looked great but I am trying to cover up dirt scuffs in the future and I think I will wear brown more. I decided to shine all of my boots and weatherproof them- great to do now before the cold comes.

Random Acts of Kindness
Yesterday one of my customers bought me new bike brakes and installed them while I was working. My favorite gifts are things I need and improve my day to day. Thank you Phil and Eli!!

Switching Rooms
This is my dressing room which used to be my bedroom long ago. I decided to move back into this room because it has less street noise and will be warmer in the winter.
After the switch. A bed, 2 side tables and that is it.
Peaceful and simple.

Out with a Bang!
I know that my days of laying out in the sun are numbered so I went to tattered cover this morning and grabbed the September issues of Vogue and In Style. It is a good way to say goodbye to summer and get excited for fall.
Book Reviews: The Last of the Organizing/Cleaning Books I Will Read
The Power of Less by Leo Babauta: I actually liked this book. Identify the essentials and eliminate the rest in a nutshell. It is overwhelming, so he shows the steps to achieve your goal. I consider my decorating style to be minimal clean. I am trying to make to clean floors the main focus of the room because there is nothing better than walking barefoot on a clean floor- true dat.
Clean Sweep by Alison Haynes: I have moved so many boxes of books at estate sales that I have grown a hatred to collections in the home. I prefer to borrow them from the library and return- unless it is a must-have. This book is a must-have. It is a clean living manual- it breaks down each room of your home with eco-friendly ways to clean and care for. I put too many post-it tabs on the pages of this book, 23 of them to be exact. Loved it!
The One-Minute Cleaner and The One-Minute Organizer by Donna Smallin: I got these books to see if there is anything I don't already know- there are no post-it tabs on these books. Why am I re-reading things in hopes for a couple new ideas? And with that, I won't be adding any more cleaning or organizing books to my list because I know everything. I feel like I won at Donkey Kong. It's kind of an empty feeling- but I am excited for the next new.
